CBSE Janjatiya Gaurav Divas 2026: Schools to Celebrate Nov 1-15
CBSE schools across the country are set for a fortnight of tribal pride. The board has asked every affiliated school to observe Janjatiya Gaurav Divas (JJGD) 2026 from 1 November to 15 November 2026, honouring tribal freedom fighters and the culture, history and traditions of tribal communities. Schools will run activities through these 15 days and then upload a record of what they did.
This is the sixth year JJGD is being marked. The day has been observed nationwide since 2021.
What CBSE Janjatiya Gaurav Divas 2026 asks schools to do
The celebration is built around two threads: the role tribal freedom fighters played in India’s freedom struggle, and the art, heritage and traditions of tribal communities. CBSE has sent out an Annexure with a suggested list of activities. Schools can pick what suits their students.
Some of the activities on the list:
- Floral tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda and other tribal freedom fighters at schools and hostels on 15 November 2026
- Age-appropriate workshops on tribal art, dance, music, crafts and culture
- Honouring tribal achievers and scholars who can be role models for students
- Outreach with tribal communities, including Swachhata drives, plantation, Each One Teach One, and enrolment in NSS, NCC or MyBharat
- Cultural events such as tribal dance, drama, music and painting
- Quizzes on tribal freedom fighters, culture and heritage
Competitions students can take part in
The board has listed themed competitions as well. A few of them:
| Activity | Theme |
|---|---|
| Painting | My Tribe, My Heritage |
| Story Writing | Stories from My Tribal Heritage |
| Poetry | Voices of Tribal India |
| Essay Writing | Tribal Contributions to India’s Freedom Struggle |

There is also a short write-up (250 to 300 words), nukkad natak, drama and traditional art and craft work under the theme My Community’s Art.
Uploading the record of activities
Schools have to document what they organise, with photographs, videos and a brief write-up. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs logo should be displayed on all banners, hoardings and publicity material.
The documentation goes up on the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) portal at https://adiprasaran.tribal.gov.in/JJGD/.
Schools may also share brief details, photos and videos at https://forms.gle/ikvsi9mJJ764kfvBA.
Events already held can be uploaded straight away. For the rest, details should go up within a week of each event wrapping up. Full event information, such as the number of events, dates, type of activity and number of participants, is to be entered on the designated JJGD portal.
