CBSE Certificates Online

The Union Human Resources (HRD) Ministry’s dream of creating and maintaining a national electronic database of academic records has started materialising.

For the first time in the county, last week, the University Grants Commission (UGC) issued certificates of National Eligibility Test (NET) examination in soft form.

Ved Prakash, acting chairman of UGC said, “The digitisation of certificates will help check forgery, completely eliminate fake certificate rackets, save time and eliminate students’ fear of losing certificates.”

He added, “If an employer wants to check the credentials of a candidate, it can do so with the click of a button. This will also expose the people who give false information on resumes.”

The HRD ministry has already approached the CBSE board to digitise all educational certificates and make them available online. The Board plans to start a pilot project in the new academic year which starts from June.

Earlier, a certificate would mean about 3 to 4 months of paper work. The simplified process will enable a student to get his certificate within 24 hours.

“The electronic documents will be hassle free and all information regarding a student’s marks, percentage, and school leaving certificates will be made available online. This will also reduce the chances of students going for fake documents,” said a CBSE Board official who did not wish to be named.

Meanwhile, schools are happy with this move.

Deepika Shrivastava, principal of Rajhans Vidyalaya said, “This is definitely a positive move and will save a lot of time in terms of paper work. We have many students approaching us saying they have lost their documents. Things will be easy for them once the online depository is made available.”
