Class XII students in West Asian countries whose CBSE board papers couldn’t be held now have a way forward. The board will conduct a Special Examination for the affected subjects, and to sit for it, every candidate must fill the List of Candidates (LOC) online. The window is short. It runs from 22 September 2026 to 26 September 2026, so students should not wait till the last day.
This applies to both Regular and Private category candidates. If your main paper in a subject could not be conducted, you can register for it now.
Who can fill the CBSE Special Examination 2026 West Asia LOC
The facility is open only to Regular and Private category candidates of West Asian countries where the examination could not be held. Students may pick one subject or several. In all, there are 40 subjects in which the board could not conduct the papers, and these will show up as a checklist on the portal.
One point every student and parent should note carefully: the marks scored in the Special Examination will overwrite the marks awarded earlier. Your examination centre stays the same as your Main examination centre.
Documents to keep ready
Before you start, gather your old exam papers. The portal asks for details straight off your last exam records.
- Your previous Admit Card
- Your Marks Statement
- Previous Roll Number of the Main examination
- Main Exam Centre Number (as on the Admit Card)
- Mother’s name (as on the Admit Card)
- Year of Main Examination, which is 2026
- A personal email address for OTP verification

How to fill the LOC step by step
- Go to the official CBSE website: www.cbse.nic.in
- Click the link for Online Registration for the Special Examination in the West Asian Countries, Class XII, 2026.
- Open the registration portal and click the Special Exam tab.
- Enter your previous examination details and the security code shown on screen, then click Proceed.
- Type in the OTP sent to your email to verify.
- Tick the subject or subjects you want to appear in. At least one is required.
- Fill the rest of the form, review everything, and submit.
After you submit, the portal shows an Application Number. Write it down and keep it safe. You may need it later. Once submitted, you can open the Confirmation Page to view what you filed.
Merely submitting the form does not by itself make a candidate eligible. Eligibility depends on meeting the board’s conditions, checked at its end. The LOC closes on 26 September 2026, so finish the process well within the window.
