CBSE Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan 2026: Schools to Take e-Pledge
Schools across the country have fresh work on their table. CBSE has asked every affiliated school to join a nationwide push marking six years of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), the government’s drive against drug and substance abuse. Students and teachers are being asked to take an online pledge, run awareness drives on their campuses, and join a national programme that will be held virtually.
The campaign is being driven by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment (DoSJE). NMBA was launched on 15 August 2020 under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), and its focus has been on warning young people, women, and educational institutions about the harm caused by drugs.
What CBSE wants schools to do under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan 2026
The Board has listed clear steps for each school:
- Take the NMBA e-Pledge. Students and teachers can take the pledge online at https://nashamukt.dosje.gov.in/epledge.
- Run awareness and sensitisation activities. Schools are expected to hold visible, on-ground events around substance abuse.
- Join the National Programme. Students, teachers, and staff should take part virtually. The date, time, and joining details will be shared later.
- Name a nodal teacher. Each school should pick one teacher to coordinate the NMBA activities and handle reporting.
- Report what they did. Brief notes, photos, and videos of the activities can be uploaded at https://forms.gle/ansKVVYGuJ1DwgCj6.
A three-month campaign with a 10 crore pledge target
The concept note attached to the circular explains the bigger picture. The six-year mark is being treated as a national mobilisation moment, not just an anniversary. A three-month nationwide awareness and mobilisation campaign is planned, with a target of reaching 10 crore people through pledges and ground-level activities.
The plan covers all 36 States and Union Territories and ties in schools, higher education institutions, NGOs, spiritual organisations, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, and others. A suggestive list of on-ground activities, from street plays and exhibitions to sports events and pledge drives, is shared at this link.
Schools that haven’t yet named a nodal teacher should start there, since that person will steer both the activities and the uploads.
