NTA Duplicate Scorecard: Police Report No Longer Mandatory

NTA Duplicate Scorecard: Police Report No Longer Mandatory

Lost your NTA scorecard and worried about running to a police station first? That hurdle is gone. The National Testing Agency has issued a correction to its rules for getting a duplicate scorecard, and the changes take effect immediately. The biggest relief: candidates no longer have to compulsorily file and submit a police or embassy report to apply.

The corrigendum fixes several paragraphs of the earlier Office Memorandum that set out how a duplicate scorecard is issued. Here is what actually changes for candidates.

What changes in the NTA Duplicate Scorecard procedure

Under the revised rules, submitting a police or embassy report is no longer a must. Such a report has to be furnished only if the applicant has actually lodged one. Two paragraphs of the original memorandum, 5.2 and 5.3, have been deleted outright.

Another clear line has been drawn on the format of the document. Paragraph 7.3 stands deleted, and the agency has stated plainly that no physical copy of the duplicate score card can be provided, since it is an electronically generated document. So applicants should expect a digital copy, not a printed one posted to their address.

How to pay the fee

The fee is to be paid through the online payment gateway built into the NTA portal, by way of an NEFT transaction. The account particulars are:

Detail Information
Bank name Canara Bank
Account holder name National Testing Agency
Account No. 86882010019080
IFSC code CNRB0000268

Where online payment is not feasible, the fee may be remitted by Demand Draft drawn in favour of “National Testing Agency”, payable at New Delhi.

Application form and affidavit

The application form, affidavit and the indemnity-cum-undertaking (Annexures I, II and III) must now be read in line with these corrections. The portions about loss, theft, mutilation, damage or destruction of the scorecard, lodging a police or embassy report, efforts to trace the score card, and surrender of the original will apply only where they are relevant. Applicants may strike out the parts that do not apply to their case and state the actual reason instead.

Every other part of the original memorandum stays as it was. Candidates who need a duplicate scorecard should follow the updated form and the payment route above.
