Skill and vocational teachers have a chance to sit at the table where CBSE decides what a national peer network for them should look like. The Board is holding a one-day, in-person Consultative Workshop at its Dwarka headquarters on 13th August, 2026, and registrations close on 9th August 2026. Seats are few, and not everyone who applies will get in.
The workshop is being organised by the Department of Skill Education, CBSE along with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), through its regional centre, the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA). This is the second such consultation. The subject: strengthening Skill Education through a Community of Practice (CoP) in India.
So what is a CoP? CBSE describes it as a structured, educator-led peer network where vocational and skill teachers and educators across India can learn from each other, share resources, engage with experts, and collectively strengthen skill education delivery in schools. The 13 August meeting is a step towards designing and setting up that network.

What the day will cover
CBSE has listed four objectives for the session:
- Understanding the key challenges, support needs, and working realities of vocational or skill teachers and educators across different CBSE school settings.
- Picking out priority themes and focus areas for the first CoP cohorts, based on what teachers say they need.
- Getting teachers to shape the CoP’s structure, engagement model, peer learning network, and the platforms and tools it will use.
- Building an early sense of professional community among the founding members of the Skill Education CoP in India.

A few conditions matter here.
Seats are very limited. Applications will be screened internally, and only selected participants will be invited for the in-person workshop. Those picked will hear directly from CBSE through a confirmation or invitation mail.
People with educational qualifications in skill subjects are encouraged to apply.
One group is ruled out: skill and vocational educators who took part in, or registered for, the first Consultative Workshop held on 2nd June 2026 at CBSE HQ, Delhi are not eligible to apply.
What comes out of it
The Board expects the day to produce a structured record of the professional challenges, knowledge gaps, and needs voiced by participants, along with the thematic priority areas that will anchor the first CoP cohorts. Teachers’ own preferences and constraints will feed into decisions on the CoP’s structure, cadence, modalities, and institutional arrangements. CBSE also plans a preliminary list of teachers willing to help design the CoP or take on facilitator roles, and a consultation report of findings and recommendations that will be shared with stakeholders before the CoP is actually built.
Heads of CBSE affiliated schools, vocational and skill teachers, and skill education enthusiasts have all been asked to join in.
