Tricolours go up at home again this month, and schools have work to do. CBSE has asked every affiliated school to take part in the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026, which will be observed from 9 August to 17 August 2026 under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Students, teachers and parents are all expected to join in.
This year the campaign runs alongside the third phase of the commemoration of 150 years of the National Song ‘Vande Mataram’. The Board says the point of the campaign is to encourage citizens to hoist the National flag at their homes and build a personal and emotional connection with the Tiranga.
What schools have been asked to do

So the practical takeaway for a school office: plan the assembly and the singing well before 9 August, keep a camera ready during the flag hoisting, and collect high resolution pictures as the week goes along rather than hunting for them afterwards.
For parents, the ask is simpler. Hoist the flag at home the right way, following the Flag Code of India, and put up a selfie on the portal.
Har Ghar Tiranga has been run around Independence Day since 2022 as part of the wider Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, and school participation has been a big part of it each year. CBSE says the active participation of every school will help in inculcating constitutional values, patriotism and a sense of national pride among students.
