Teachers handling two commerce-linked skill subjects at CBSE senior secondary schools have a training date coming up in Lucknow, and the registration window is tight. The Department of Skill Education, CBSE, will run a one-day, offline Capacity Building Programme for teachers of “Salesmanship” (Subject Code: 831) and “Retail” (Subject Code: 801) for Class XI-XII. Two separate dates, two separate forms, and sign-ups close a day before each session.
The training is meant for teachers who already teach these subjects or plan to take them up. If your school runs Salesmanship or Retail as a skill subject at the senior secondary level, attendance on the scheduled date is compulsory.

Who should register, and what it costs
The programme is for teachers of CBSE affiliated schools who have already introduced Salesmanship or Retail, or are about to. A few practical points worth noting:
- Attendance is mandatory for teachers of these skill subjects on the scheduled date.
- The training happens in offline mode. There is no online option.
- There is no participation fee.
- The Board will not pay any TA/DA, so travel and other costs are on the teacher or school.
A quick word on the subjects themselves. Salesmanship and Retail sit under CBSE’s skill education basket, which pairs regular academics with job-ready, hands-on subjects from Class 9 onward. Capacity building programmes like this one train the teachers who deliver them, so the classroom side keeps pace with what the curriculum expects.
Register early. The cut-off for Salesmanship is 21 August 2026 and for Retail it’s 24 August 2026, both at 5:00 PM. For any questions, write to the Assistant Professor and Assistant Director, Department of Skill Education, at jyoti.as.se@cbseshiksha.in.
