Career counselling in CBSE schools is about to get a hands-on refresher. The board has called principals, teachers and school counsellors to an online session that walks them through the government’s own career tools, chiefly the My Career Advisor mobile app and the Tamanna aptitude test for classes IX and X. It happens on one afternoon this week, and schools have been told to spread the word before it starts.

Who the CBSE career guidance webinar is for
The session is meant for Principals and Heads of Schools, teachers, and School Counsellors. CBSE says the aim is to make school-level staff comfortable with initiatives run by the Ministry of Education so they can guide students better on study and career choices.
What the webinar will cover
Participants will get a working look at three things:
- The key features of the My Career Advisor mobile app, and how to use it for student career exploration and guidance.
- The purpose and process of Tamanna, which stands for Try And Measure Aptitude And Natural Abilities, an aptitude test for students of classes IX and X, including how to read and interpret the results.
- How Career Guidance Handbooks and other resources can be put to use by counsellors, teachers and other school staff to help students make informed decisions.

CBSE has tied the effort to NEP 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023, both of which push for age-appropriate career awareness in schools. Tamanna, for the record, is a psychometric test built to gauge a student’s aptitude and natural strengths early, so choices at the higher secondary stage are better informed.
