The Guidelines for conducting written examination for persons with benchmark disabilities 2018 set clear rules on scribes, compensatory time and assistive devices for candidates with disabilities. Issued by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, they replace the 2013 guidelines and apply to all examining bodies, spelling out who gets a scribe, scribe qualifications and extra time allowed.

A program launched by the government of India to not only provide inclusive and equitable education for all but also bridge the gap of social category and gender that exists at the school level.
