CBSE Award to Teachers
According to the Great A.P.J Abdul Kalam, “Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, calibre, and future of an individual. If the people remember me as a good teacher that will be the highest honour for me”. Any profession is rewarding if the achievements are recognised because being an educator is perhaps the most responsible roles one has to take. In order to felicitate the contribution of teachers CBSE has conferred “CBSE award to teachers” to various teachers and principals who through their vision and commitment have enriched the lives of children. The awardees were divided into different categories and awarded based on their designation and Categories that had been pre-decided. The teachers and school principals working in primary, middle level and higher secondary schools came under the net of the awards barring the exception of some rules.
- The teachers and principals would not be eligible if they were taking tuitions.
- Only regular teachers were entitled to awards.
- Contractual Teachers and Shiksha Mitras also were not eligible for the awards
- If the teachers have retired recently they will not be eligible for the award but they still can be eligible if they have served at least for four full months of the calendar.
- People who are in the administration of educational premises and inspectors of educators too are not eligible for the award.
The criteria for evaluation
The teachers and principals were awarded based on fulfilling the criteria of performance. Some of the performance criteria listed are: Initiatives are taken to improve learning, Innovative methods employed to teach students, organising different extracurricular activities to bring out the best in the child, proper use of teaching material, providing experiential learning and teaching unique ways of implying the importance of physical education.
The application process
Teachers and heads who believed they were eligible for the award applied online and filled the format that was to be sent before the cut off date. Apart from the format, the applicants were also asked to submit online various documents, activity reports field trips, educational trip reports, different recorded audios and videos. An undertaking was also taken from the applicants to re-establish the authenticity of all the activities. CBSE also ensured that the documents and reports so submitted were also authentic and necessary checks were made to doubly assure them of its legitimacy.
The winners
The list of all the winners was announced by CBSE and the awardees were proudly named for their achievement. The list also includes the names of the school, the teacher designation and their particular area of contribution. Many teachers and Principals from Delhi have been awarded followed by Karnataka, West Bengal. The best part of the award is that even smaller regions like 24 North Parganas have been included. Such inclusions will motivate teachers to do even better despite being from remote areas. The awardees also belong to medium level schools that have apparently performed better than larger schools. The awards will definitely bring cheers to states and schools from which they belong and it will give them new hope and impetus to do even better.
