The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently announced an exciting opportunity for school students with a knack for robotics and innovation. The 18th World Robot Olympiad (WRO) India 2024, themed ‘Earth Allies’, is set to challenge young minds to develop robotic solutions that benefit people, nature, and the environment. This year’s event is a collaboration between the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and India STEM Foundation (ISF), highlighting a focus on imagination, problem-solving skills, and scientific temperament.

Currently, registration is open for Level 1 of the Virtual Championship Events under the 'Future Innovators' Category. This initial stage allows teams to present their projects remotely, with the National Championship slated for August 2024 in Delhi NCR. Winners of the national level will advance to the WRO 2024 International Championship in Turkey this November. Interested schools need to act quickly as the registration deadlines are May 6 and June 2, 2024.

Event Schedule for ‘Future Innovators’ Category:

  • Event 3: Registration ends on May 6, 2024, with the competition running from May 7 to 13 and results announced by May 30.
  • Event 4: Registration closes on June 2, 2024, competition dates are from June 3 to 9, with results declared on June 17.

This program is particularly appealing as it encourages the participation of students across various age groups:

  • Elementary (8-12 years)
  • Junior (11-15 years)
  • Senior (14-19 years)

Participation is voluntary and free of cost for one team per CBSE affiliated school, which allows for a broad and inclusive engagement. Schools are encouraged to use any technology of their choice to support their team's efforts in crafting innovative solutions.

Dr. Joseph Emmanuel, Director (Academics) at CBSE, urges schools to disseminate this information and motivate students to engage in this enriching experience. Such initiatives not only foster technical skills but also develop critical thinking and entrepreneurial spirit among students.

With the integration of such a stimulating competition into the academic calendar, CBSE continues to promote educational excellence and innovation among its students, preparing them to be the problem-solvers and environmental stewards of tomorrow.
