CBSE Schools Ranking/ Rating

seven-point system

While choosing the right school for their children, parents are often plagued by many doubts and queries. In order to set these anxieties at rest, Central Board of School Education would soon come up with an accreditation system under which institutions would be marked against a seven-point scale.

Announcing this here on Friday, CBSE Vineet Joshi said the system would make the picture clear for many parents. Joshi was in city to inaugurate cultural programmes at Drishti Dr R C Jain Innovative Public School and BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary Public School. "By next month, we will be out with a circular of accreditation. Every school has to apply for it within three years.

We will appoint a nodal agency to inspect the school against a seven-point system. But this will happen only after the school applies for accreditation," the CBSE chairman said. The approval would be given the after the agency carries out a thorough inspection and gives the green signal, he added. There would not be any rating under the new system. "The school either makes it or it doesn't," Joshi said.

The educational institutions would be judged on the basis of infrastructure, human resources, vision, mission, classroom learning and feedback from parents and students. Clearing doubts related to Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation (CCE) System, Joshi said it would help students as well as schools. "Students will take the exam two times a year instead of one and the school will assess a student for two years - class IX and class X. We are in the process of appointing some mentors who will be principals.

They will keep an eye on nearby schools to see if the system is being followed in the right spirit," he added. The board has also started holding talks with teachers and parents. "We have interacted with over 20,000 teachers and 6,000 parents and received 8,000 queries on the internet. From these, replies have been sent to 6,500," Joshi said. TOI
