Chandigarh From the next academic session, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) would start a vocational course in animation and designing for students of Class XI and XII.

At present, the Board is working on the syllabus, which would be drafted keeping in mind the requirement in the animation industry and Bollywood.

“The CBSE would soon start courses in animation and designing. There have been several meetings with CBSE Chairman Vineet Joshi in this regard,” Deepankar Bhattacharyya, education head of Autodesk India, said.

The HRD ministry and the CBSE are consulting leading software companies like Autodesk, which are working in the education sector, while designing the course.

“The association with the CBSE would be in terms of providing software, curriculum integration, development of course material and research partnership,” Bhattacharyya said.

Bhattacharyya added that they were working with the Union government on introducing animation courses in higher education.

“There are degree courses like BTech and BE for engineering, but the country lacks similar courses in animation and designing,” he said.
