Class 12 students in seven West Asian countries who couldn’t sit their 2026 Board exams now get a second chance. CBSE will hold special examinations in the 40 subjects that were cancelled earlier, and the window to submit the List of Candidates (LOC) and examination forms is short: 22 September 2026 to 26 September 2026.
The move follows a Supreme Court order. The Board says it will conduct exams for all Class 12 candidates from these countries whose results were prepared under the Assessment Scheme, covering the papers that could not be held.
Why the CBSE Class 12 Special Examinations 2026 are being held
Board Examinations 2026 for Class 12 in 40 subjects, 20 academic and 20 skill, could not be conducted in West Asian countries because of the situation on the ground. To protect students’ academic year, CBSE notified an Assessment Scheme on 27 March 2026 and declared results for regular candidates on 13 May 2026, alongside other Class 12 students in India and abroad. Private candidates’ results came later under the same scheme.
That scheme had promised students unhappy with their results a chance to actually write the cancelled papers. This notification delivers that chance.
Who can apply
The exams are open only to candidates who were already part of the Main Examinations 2026 process:
- Regular candidates: students of affiliated schools in West Asian countries whose LOC was submitted for the Main Examinations 2026 and whose results were declared under the Assessment Scheme.
- Private candidates: those who had filed their examination forms for the Main Examinations 2026 and whose results came under the same scheme.
A few conditions matter. Candidates may appear in subjects of their choice. The result of this examination will be final and will replace the earlier performance. Every candidate must submit the LOC or form personally within the schedule.
Students who stayed absent during the Main Examinations 2026, for any reason, cannot appear. No new candidate, regular or private, who did not sit the Main Examinations 2026 is eligible.

Key conditions to note
- No examination fee will be charged.
- Exams will be held only in the affected West Asian countries: Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE. They won’t run anywhere else.
- Examination centres stay the same.
- The exam date and date sheet will be announced once the LOC and forms are filled.
- The link for the LOC and forms will be put up on the CBSE website, www.cbse.gov.in.
- No extension will be granted, and no subject change is allowed.
- Exams won’t be held in subjects the Board has already conducted.
- No post-result declaration facility will be provided afterwards.
The cancelled subjects run across the arts, sciences and skill streams, from History, Economics, Mathematics and Biology to Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Banking and Yoga, with 40 subjects listed in all. Schools in West Asia have been asked to pass this notification to every affected Class 12 student and guide them through the form-filling. With the window closing on 26 September 2026, students who want to improve their marks should reach their schools now.
