CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Exam 2026 on 28 July

CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Exam 2026 on 28 July

Students of Class 12 who missed the mark in this year’s board results have a firm date to circle. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will hold its Senior Secondary Supplementary Examination 2026 on Tuesday, 28 July 2026. Every subject, from Mathematics to Fashion Studies, sits on that single day.

Most papers run in one slot: 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. A smaller group of subjects finishes earlier, at 12:30 PM. So candidates need to check their exact timing against the subject code on the date sheet before they set out.

The supplementary exam, sometimes called the compartment exam, gives students a second attempt to clear a subject they could not pass in the main board exam. A clear result here lets them move ahead without losing a full year.

Here is how the two time slots break down.

Time slot Subjects
10:30 AM to 1:30 PM English, Hindi, Urdu and Sanskrit (Elective and Core), History, Political Science, Geography, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Physical Education, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Informatics Practices, Entrepreneurship, Legal Studies, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, regional languages, French, Nepali, Kokborok, and skill subjects such as Retail, IT, Banking, Marketing, Tourism and Agriculture
10:30 AM to 12:30 PM Hindustani Music Vocal, Hindustani Music Mel Ins, Painting, Applied Art (Commercial Art), Yoga, Early Childhood Care & Education, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Physical Activity Trainer

Every candidate gets an extra 15 minutes of reading time to go through the question paper before writing. That time is meant only for reading, not for answering.

A few rules the board has flagged for the exam hall:

  • Communication devices are barred inside the examination centre. Carrying or using one invites action under the Unfair Means (UFM) rules.
  • Candidates must keep strict discipline within the centre.
  • The duration of each paper is printed on both the date sheet and the admit card.

Students should follow all instructions the board issues from time to time. For the latest updates, keep an eye on the official website: www.cbse.gov.in. Download the admit card when it is released, confirm your subject code and slot, and reach the centre well before 10:30 AM.
