Friday is the last day to apply for your child’s nursery admission. Though most schools have already started interactions with parents, others like DPS RK Puram and DPS Vasant Kunj, Vasant Valley and Bloom Public School in Vasant Kunj, Mother’s International at Aurobindo Marg, Salwan Montessori in Rajinder Nagar and VVDAV School in Vikaspuri will make the application forms available for one last day. The directorate of education had given schools till January 15 to conduct application procedures. Most of these schools will come out with their first list of candidates on February 1. Many parents feel it’s wise to apply to as many schools as possible to minimise the risk of not getting their children a seat. Since most of the schools remaining have online application facilities, parents can cover them all even on the last day. Said Kanchan Sharma, mother of a three-yearold girl,
‘‘I have applied to four schools. Thankfully, this year we did not have to run around much. The whole application procedure was a bit relaxed because of the onemonth period given by the government.’’
As parents buy and submit forms on the last day, it is important that they have all documents in one place. Different schools are asking for different sets of documents to be attached with application forms — both original and photocopies.
‘‘Many schools want two proofs of residence and a few also insist on proof that the family has been living in their current residence for at least a year. It’s better for parents to carry a voter ID card or a passport as residence proof as some schools don’t accept electricity or telephone bills,’’ advised Sumit Vohra.
‘‘Try for schools which accept online applications as there is no need to submit documents immediately. Different family members should go to different schools to apply to more schools in less time.’’
