CBSE Plans Kaushal Vikas Teacher Training Across West Bengal

CBSE Plans Kaushal Vikas Teacher Training Across West Bengal

Teachers in West Bengal who handle the Skill subject have three Saturdays to keep free. CBSE is running a set of one-day training sessions on the Kaushal Vikas textbook at schools in Kolkata, Bardhaman and Haringhata. Attendance costs nothing, and it’s meant for the teachers who will actually teach this book to Class IX.

The reason behind it is a rule change. From the 2026-2027 session, every school will have to offer a Skill subject to each Class IX student, in line with NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023. To get teachers ready for that, the board has fixed Capacity Building Programmes (CBPs) at three venues across the state.

Each session runs from 09:00 AM to 05:30 PM. Here’s where and when:

Date Venue Contact
25 July 2026 (Saturday) Hariyana Vidya Mandir, BA-193, Salt Lake Bypass, Sector 1, Bidhannagar, Kolkata, West Bengal 700064 Ms. Sanghamitra Banerjee, 9830293710, 15625@cbseshiksha.in
1 August 2026 (Saturday) Burdwan Model School, Bardhaman Katwa Rd, Dewandighi, Mirzapur, West Bengal 713407 Mr. Bipin Bihari Singh, 8373049058 / 8001027777, bms001.principal@rediffmail.com
8 August 2026 (Saturday) Garden High School, IISER Campus Rd, Haringhata Farm, West Bengal 741246 Ms. Ratna Biswas, 8335860774, campusschool@iiserkol.ac.in

What should schools do? Make sure the teacher who teaches Kaushal Vikas to Class IX turns up. The board has been clear that this matters for putting the subject in place properly.

A few practical points before teachers head out:

  • There is no fee to attend.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for coming.
  • Teachers can reach out to the venue schools directly to take part.
  • Confirm your seat with the venue school in advance, so it can sort out the logistics.
  • Carry the NCERT Kaushal Vikas textbook to the session, since the day is built around discussion.

Kaushal Vikas is the skill education textbook that Class IX students will study once the Skill subject becomes compulsory. For any doubt, teachers should call or email the contact person listed for their chosen venue. Confirm early and carry the book.
