Class 12 private candidates who landed in the compartment category have a tight window to act. CBSE has thrown open the online form for the Class 12 Supplementary Examination 2026, and the portal goes live on 30 June 2026 (Tuesday). The exam falls on 28 July 2026 (Tuesday).
There is no school office to lean on here. Private students must fill and submit the form themselves on the CBSE portal at https://cbse.gov.in, and only those who pay the fee on time get a seat in the exam hall.
The supplementary exam, often called the compartment exam, is the second shot CBSE gives a student who clears most subjects but slips in one. Pass it, and the year is saved without repeating the class.
One point matters a lot this year. Regular students of 2025 who are now in the compartment category for their third and final chance can apply only under the private category. For students who first sat the Board exam in 2025, this third chance is the last one.
