Last week I visited this school, which is located just a few hundred meters from the famous Ambaji temple. I had visited it before in 2004 and between then and now there have been many significant changes. The school enrolls about 150 children, who are housed, clothed, fed, and educated from grades 1-8. There are a few staff people and about 5 full-time teachers, all of whom appear to be highly dedicated. The facilities are modest, but by Indian standards quite good. Naturally, it is a non-profit school, so it is run through grants secured from the Indian Government, charitable contributions from benefactors, and free services (medical and dental, for example) provided by local doctors, especially from the nearby town of Sidhpur. Mr. Bansibhai Shah, who is a founder and trustee of the school, has worked tirelessly over the past 30 years to develop the school and bring it to its current fine stage. I thank him, the other trustees, the staff, and teachers at the school for all the good work that they do. ~ by V Rawal
