The National Testing Agency has thrown open the application window for the Rashtriya Military School Common Entrance Test (RMS CET) 2026. Class VI and Class IX admissions for the 2027-2028 session are up for grabs across five Rashtriya Military Schools. Parents, mark your calendars. The online form goes live on 23 September 2026, and the last day to apply is 20 October 2026.
The RMS CET 2026 is your child’s route into these English medium residential schools run by the Ministry of Defence. Applications are accepted only through the official NTA portal at https://exams.nta.nic.in/rmscet/.

Who can apply for RMS CET 2026
Age is counted as on 31 March 2027.
- Class VI: Candidate should be between 10 and 13 years, born between 1 April 2014 and 31 March 2017 (both days inclusive).
- Class IX: Candidate should be between 13 and 16 years, born between 1 April 2011 and 31 March 2014 (both days inclusive).
Wards of Armed Forces personnel Killed in Action get a six month relaxation in the upper age limit.

Exam pattern and centres
The RMS CET 2026 is a pen paper-based test using OMR sheets, and all questions are multiple choice (MCQs). The test runs in 63 cities across India, listed in the Information Bulletin RMS 2026.
A quick note on the schools themselves. Rashtriya Military Schools give quality education to the wards of defence personnel and civilians from Class VI to XII. Founding members of the Indian Public Schools’ Conference (IPSC), the five schools sit at Chail in the Shimla Hills of Himachal Pradesh, Ajmer and Dholpur in Rajasthan, and Belgaum and Bengaluru in Karnataka.
