St. Mary's Convent College Nainital

We sent our daughter here. Back then corporal punishment was part of their school curriculum. In 2nd grade when our daughter was only six years old she was new to school and she didn’t speak English, she didn’t make any friends, she didn’t know what to do, a certain Ms Lalita solomon or so the art teacher publicly slapped our child for forgetting some important material (and no i have not forgotten that name) because Our daughter since developed a school phobia and had nausea before school every single day. I cannot understand how you can slap a 6 year old publicly who doesn’t even understand English, doesn’t know what you are seeking in front of the entire class on the first or second day of school? After that incident my child couldn’t make friends in that class very well as other children shrunk from her. First days of school are very crucial. A Very very apathetic lady! She was later publicly beaten later on in her school by many other of their school teachers , some of whom i feel had mental issues and were very aggressive with children and targeted our child who was rather timid and quiet. Another one was a Mrs Bhatt. This business of publicly humiliating and beating children was quite common in this school. Honestly if i could give 0 stars I would. Education /dicipline and merely speaking English mean nothing if you don’t have simple decent respect for children as human beings and living entities with emotions. Perhaps now things are different since supreme court ruled that corporal punishment has been banned. Our daughter is doing well professionally now, but she still struggles with the bad experiences by the teachers at this school. Our daughter was never troublesome or a delinquent. However it seems that the school hired ladies who are basically unempathetic and should not be let anywhere near children by any means. When it comes to children, the character of the lady means much more than what she can teach. I hope ramnee learned their lesson. Oh! And they were also unempathetic whenever we brought up the fact that our child was mistreated! They swung it around and blamed the child that the child doesn’t do homework. I’m sorry, but if the child doesn’t do homework, I don’t understand how publicly humiliating the child in front on the entire class, or berating or beating the child could make the child do the homework? Perhaps you are just a bad teacher who can’t invoke interest in the subject . Its just not an attitude I expected from convent ladys. Anyways. I hope my review helped!
