sonali p Parent - Admission

Not very happy with the admission procedure for my 5 year old kid seeking admission for Upper KG.After covid this is the first time my son was about to step in to a school. We enquired about the school fees and the admission procedure before, saying an entrance exam will be conducted as it was mid year admission to see the progress of the child. A week after we went to the school again and my child was taken inside for the entrance exam and parents not being allowed inside . Rather being repeatedly saying that the child may feel nervous as it's the first time for him stepping into a school they didn't allow the parents being around him. Also when asked how long it will take for the entrance exam to finish, got a vague answer that the faster he finishes writing his paper. Past 30 mins of waiting somehow I got inside the room where my child was being interviewed and I could see the caretaker guiding the entance exam for my child and my child being too nervous even to say something as he was clueless as to what is happening. Also to my surprise the caretaker was Assessing the child and told me that he is weak at writing . So firstly interviewing /screening of child before admission is strictly prohibited from DoE. Secondly,we were not briefed about the curriculum as to what is expected from a 5 year old kid Thirdly, a teacher should be guiding the exam if ever as they said was to check the progress of the child. Fourthly if they see child being too nervous, end the exam or involve the parent for discussion.
