The failed candidates should not apply for migration certificate.

A form prescribed by CBSE has to be filled which can easily be downloaded from the attachment at the bottom of this page. The fee for applying for migration certificate or its duplicate copy is a nominal 250/-. But in case if one wants to issue the duplicate copy urgently, then the fee would be an additional 500/- The courier charges are 25/- within Delhi/New Delhi and 35/- within India.

Candidates who wish to pursue further studies, they may apply for the migration certificate along with the above mentioned fee (through Demand Draft/Pay order/or Indian postal order) favoring “Secretary CBSE” payable at concerned regional office only.

Students should also know that they can collect the hard copy of the certificate on the same day of depositing Application form and fee in cash by hand if they wish to avoid the postal procedure.

The delivery of documents is ideally done within 7-20 working days from the date of receipt of Application form. Documents will be dispatched at the respective address of the candidate through Speed post/Regd. Post/courier, as the case maybe. Therefore, the candidates must be very careful while filling in the complete postal address and email-id for proper dispatch of documents.

It is also important to note that applicants must retain a photocopy of all supporting documents including the Demand Draft/Fee deposited/ sent to the regional office for future reference.

  • Non-urgent Basis- Document shall be issued on production of original Fee receipt after 15 working days (Excl. holidays)
  • Urgent Basis- Document shall be issued on production of original Fee receipt after 2 working days (Exc. Holidays)

In both the cases, document has to be collected between 3pm-5pm from M&M section.

Also keep in mind to collect the document within three months from the date of deposit of duly completed Application form and Fee failing which the document might be cancelled or the candidate might have to re-apply after the completion of stipulated time.

One of the most important things to ensure before filing for document is applicants must check the status of availability of their respective records at concerned office of the Board and must apply at the concerned office only to avoid any unnecessary delay. Your school might be of help in this case as they will let you know the correct details. And for absolute information, you can rely on the official website of CBSE.
