The full form of RSS is  Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan is a deemed college located in New Delhi, India and was established in 1970. It promotes Sanskrit education under the Ministry of Human Resources and Development.

With ten branches all over India, the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan is one of the largest Sanskrit promotional institutions in the whole world.

University Grants Commission (UGC) had recognised it and is recommended by the Department of Higher and Secondary Education, New Delhi. It has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an ‘A’ grade and is also associated with the International Association Of Sanskrit Studies.

They offer B.A., B.Ed., M.A., M.Ed., and even a PhD program in Sanskrit. They also provide a distance learning program. At the university, occasions like Yoga Day, Vigilance Awareness Week and National Unity Day are celebrated, just like any other college.

The scope has been often questioned with respect to Sanskrit education. Aside from the apparent teacher/lecturer, many scholars from this college have become writers, interpreters and even anthropologists. Also, a large part of Sanskrit focuses on self-development. Besides being an educational institution, I firmly believe that universities like the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan are a key to learning about our country’s values and its lineage.
