The Institute was set up by the Government of India in the year 1982. It was set as an Autonomous body to coordinate the growth and development of hospitality education in our country. Initially, the council was established as the National Board of studies dealing with the management of Food, catering, and Nutrition and Nutrition initially, which comes under the administrative control of Ministry of Agriculture, Department of food.
But it subsequently got transferred to the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in the year 1984. The institute offers ten different Professional Programs, which lead to award certification such as Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma, Bachelor, and Master Degree. The BSc and MSc programs which are offered here are in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University IGNOU.
If you want to get admission in this Institute, you have to qualify in the joint entrance examination NCHMCT JEE. The exam is on different subjects like Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude, Reasoning, Logical, General knowledge, Current Affairs, the English language. It has 200 marks question paper, and you will be given 3 hours to solve this paper. After qualifying in this examination, you have to attend counselling where you can block your seat.
