Indian Space Research Organisation which is also known as ISRO, is the space agency driven by the Government of India. Indian Space Research Organisation is situated in Bangaluru. It was founded on 15 th August 1969 after scientist Vikram Sarabhai recognized need and importance of space research for the development of the nation. ISRO strives to harness and utilize space technology for the nation’s development as well as pursue space research and planetary explorations. Till today’s date, ISRO has completed 101 spacecraft missions, 72 satellite launches, 269 foreign satellite launches of 32 countries, and 2 re-entry missions.

ISRO initiated the RESPOND program in the year 1970 to encourage students in participating and contributing to space research. Under this program, universities and academic institutes take up projects which are relevant to pace Programme. Besides, ISRO has installed Space Technology Cells at leading institutions like Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangluru and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)- Bombay, Madras, Kanpur, Kharagpur, for promoting thematic research activities in the field of Space Technology and its applications. Furthermore, workshops and conferences which are relevant to Space programs are also supported by ISRO.
