About

Institute of Plasma Research (IPR) is an autonomous institute which was established in 1982 when the Government of India started the Plasma Research Program. This institute is an R & D organization that conducts theoretical and experimental studies in the sphere of plasma science. IPR is funded by the Department of Atomic Energy and the Government of India. The campus of IPR is host to remote campuses of Centre of Plasma Physics – Institute for Plasma Research(CPP-IPR), Facilitation Centre for Industrial Plasma Technologies (FCIPT), and ITER-India.

IPR has many academic programs for training engineers and scientists in the discipline of plasma physics. It offers a Ph.D. Program and Technical Training Program where students who have completed MSc in Physics or Applied Physics are given admission based on written test and personal interview. Furthermore, the institute also offers Post-Doctoral Fellowships to eligible candidates. Summer School Program, which lasts for six weeks, is available for a selected group of students who have been awarded B.E./ M.Sc / B.Tech degree in the stream of Physics and Technology. Institute of Plasma Research recruitments take place through advertisements which are published in leading and well-known newspapers and employment portals depending on the requirement and the vacancies available.
