Indian Nursing Council (INC) is an autonomous regulatory body for nurses and nursing education in India in the year 1947. It is a national organization under the Government of India and the Ministry of Family Welfare that is constituted by the Central Government under the Indian Nursing Council Act (1947) of the Indian Parliament. Since its inception, the Indian Nursing Council Act has undergone minor amendments which have caused anomalies that have impacted the morale of registered nurses in India. Indian Nursing Council strives to establish uniform standards of training for nurses, health visitors, and midwives across the country.

INC offers diploma courses like Auxillary Nurse and Midwife Program, General Nursing and Midwifery, Under Graduate courses like B.Sc in Nursing, Post Graduate M.Sc in Nursing and M.Phil in Nursing, Ph.D. in Nursing. The criteria and eligibility for these courses are mentioned on their website. The nurses who are qualified degree holders of nursing education should register themselves on the official website of Indian Nursing Council (INC). INC registration for nurses is devoid of any registration fees. After enrolling in the Nurses Registration & Tracking System (NRTS), candidates are required to provide Aadhaar based biometric authentication at State Nursing Councils.
