CIET or Central Institute of Educational Technology, is an annexe body of NCERT, and was formed when Centre for Educational Technology and Department of Teaching Aids merged in the year 1984. The main aim of this organization is to promote the further use of the educational technologies like radios, films, radios, cyber media and satellite communications.
Objectives
The main objectives of the Central Institute of Educational Technology is to act as the central point or the main resource centre for the propagation of school education media software, which are acquired through various sources, namely regional, international and national. Another main objective is to achieve excellence in production, research and design for educational software for children, parents and teachers. Teacher education and quality improvement of schools are also some of the main objectives. Critical appreciation of educational technology policy in India is something they look forward to.
Functions
The main function of this body includes designing alternate systems of learning to deal with various problems. It also aims towards orientation of education planners and the administrators to the fundamentals of educational technology. Production of audio visual educational materials and training in specialized areas like radio, audio, television and cost-effective teaching aids are also other functions.
