C-DAC or Centre for Development of Advanced Computing is the apex research and development wing of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Established in the year 1988, its main purpose was to carry out research and development in Electronics, IT and other associated areas. The main aim behind the setting up of this organization was to build supercomputers when importing from USA stopped.
Objectives
The main objective of C-DAC was to emerge as the main research and development organization for development, design and deployment of the best electronic and IT solutions for the growth of India’s economy as well as to promote human progress. The body is also responsible for evolving various technology solutions in systems, standards and architectures for problems which are of national importance.
Functions
The various functions of C-DAC include innovating and achieving excellence in Applications, Technology and Research. They are also responsible for working with teams and distribution of leadership through various organizational levels. They aim at continuous improvement both with the help of quality and processes. The body is primarily responsible for addressing the various needs of the society through initiatives which are absolutely user-centric and propagate the benefits of Information Technology and Electronics to everyone.
