The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences is an autonomous body, established under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. It is the main body responsible for the promotion and research on Ayurveda and Sowa Rigpa system of medicine. It has various hospitals and institutes under it, all of which work collaboratively towards medicinal plant research, clinical research, drug standardization, literary research and documentation and tribal healthcare research programmes.
Objectives
The body formulates patterns and aims of research, undertakes research and other programmes in Ayurvedic Sciences, helps, initiates, develops and co-ordinates scientific research in different fields of Ayurvedic Sciences.
It also provides finances for various enquiries and researches and exchanges information and facilitates their movement among relevant organizations.
Functions
The body strives to attain excellence and be a global leader in the field of Ayurveda. For this, it engages in production of quality and cost-effective products which are capable of preventing, managing and curing various diseases. It is also relentlessly trying to blend scientific technology with Ayurveda, in order to derive the best from the both and achieve results for threatening diseases.
It also helps in formulating research and treatment methods for treating and preventing lifestyle related disorders and diseases.
