Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is a test required to appear of any aspirant wants to take admission in any Graduate Schools in America or USA. The exam is conducted by Educational Testing Service (ETS). The test has the sections which measure the ability of the aspirant in Verbal reasoning, Analytical writing, quantitative reasoning, and critical thinking skills. GRE demands a long time preparation. The curriculum of GRE is different than other entrance exam and it has specific geometry, algebra, arithmetic, vocabulary sections. The General test of GRE is a computer-based examination and this test is conducted and administered by Prometric testing centers. The GRE scores vary from graduate schools to schools. It can simply range from simple admission process to a very important selection process.
The performance of GRE depends on the performance in each section. The performance on the maths and verbal section will determine the performance of the next section. The scoring scale has now changed from 130 to 170 scale in 1 -point increment and from 200 to 800 scale. GRE has six sections. The first section considers the analytical writing section which is split into two sections, one section for each issue and argument task. The next five sections consider two quantitative reasoning section, two verbal reasoning sections. Each verbal section has 20 questions and must be completed in 30 minutes. These 20 questions constitute 6 textual type questions, 4 sentence equivalence, and 10 critical reading questions. The quantitative section also has 20 questions which must be completed in 35 minutes which constitutes 8 quantitative comparisons, 3 data interpretations, and 9 problem-solving items. And the last section is the Analytical writing section is divided into Issue task and argument task. Issue task is essay type and has 30 minutes to write an essay and in the argument task section, the candidate will be given an argument on which an essay must be written with critical analysis on the argument.
