Earthquake in China

The earthquakes are frequent and vigorous in China. God only knows when the earthquakes would be ceased in actions in China!

China has several seismic tectonic zones, accounting to around 64, which are majorly formed due to the acquisitions of many micro continents.  China has experienced numerous, destructive earthquakes, which had caused severe life and property damages, which are in fact registered as the historic earthquakes in the world history. The worst earthquake that had recorded in the history of natural disastrous was the earthquake that had happened in the Shaanxi province of China in the year 1556. This had caused huge loss of lives, not only in China, but also in other 98 countries and 8 provinces in China. The earthquake was registered with amagnitude of 8 to 8.3 on the Richer scale and caused huge life damages, accounting to around 8, 30, 000 peoples’ lives. Another major earthquake had attacked the Haicheng town in the Liaoning province of China in the year 1975 with a magnitude of about 7.3, causing life damage to 1328 people, but resulted in huge property damages.

The major factors that are leading to enormous, destructive earthquakes, are that most of the structures and buildings are built on the unstable and alluvial soils, out of which only few buildings bear the resistance capabilities to the earthquakes. The deadliest earthquake that did hit the Tangshan city in the year 1976 had caused severe damages leading to the loss of 2, 42, 769 people. The aftershocks of this earthquake were also huge that around 7, 80, 000 people were injured heavily. Even the recent years 2008, 2009 and 2010 too faced severe damages due to earthquakes. There were four earthquakes recorded in the year 2008 with heavy magnitudes, such as 7.9, 5.7 and 5.9.
