Every year since 1901 the Nobel Prize has been awarded for achievements in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and for peace. In 1968, Sveriges Riksbank established The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, founder of the Nobel Prize. The Noble Prize consists of a medal, personal diploma, and a cash award.

Venkatraman Ramakrishnan is a 1/3 Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry.He is from United Kingdom and was born in 1952
in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, India.
He got the prize for studies of the structure and function of the ribosome.
