CBSE Prescribed Novels For Extended Reading [Classes IX to XII]

In continuation of our effort to foster good reading habits among students, the Board had introduced novels in English as EXTENDED READING,for classes IX to XII from the Academic Session 2012-2013 onwards in all CBSE affiliated schools.

English (Communicative)- Code:101 and English Language & Literature-Code:184

CLASS IX :

a.     Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K Jerome (Parts I. II, III & IV) b.     Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift(19 Chapters)

CLASS X :

a.     Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank b.     The Story of My Life by Helen Keller

Functional English -Code:101 and Core English-Code:301

CLASS XI :

a.     The Canterville Ghost by Oscar Wilde b.     Up from Slavery by Booker T Washington

CLASS XII:

a.     Silas Marner by George Eliot b.     The Invisible Man by HG Wells

All novels prescribed here are unbridged versions of the original books. The unabridged PDF Version of the prescribed novels has been uploaded on the Academic website: www.cbseacademic.in. The schools/students may download these novels.
