National Engineering Entrance Exam

Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal today said all the State Governments would be taken into confidence before deciding on the proposal for a Common Entrance Test (CET) for Engineering Courses.

In his reply to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s January three letter, Mr Sibal assured no proposal for a CET for engineering courses would be finalised without consulting the state governments.

In the letter to Mr Karunanidhi, copies of which were released to the media here, Mr Sibal said he received the Chief Minister’s letter regarding introduction of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Examination for admission for Under Grade and Post Graduate Medical Courses.

Since the Medical Council of India came under the purview of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Mr Sibal had forwarded the Chief Minister’s letter to Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad for appropriate action.

We would love to hear your opinion and views on this in the comments below.
