Vocational Education’ refers to vocational courses being offered in schools for Grades 11 and 12 students under a Centrally Sponsored Scheme 'Vocationalization of Secondary Education‘. Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD ) has overall responsibility.

The vocational education is been designed, not only to enhance the efficiency of the people, but also to develop the proficiency of their skills!

The vocational education is all about teaching non-academic activities, which are either manual, or practical, pertaining to a particular field of trade, occupation, or vocation. It is also referred as vocational education and training, or technical education, as the training is imparted to gain expertise in a specific technology. The trainees of vocational education typically undergo internship programs in the actual industry, thereby enhancing their skills to the specific industry.

The vocational education is significantly designed to provide career oriented preparation, which is otherwise absent in the school and college academics. Nowadays, the vocational education is been imparted in the high school curriculum itself. Many colleges/universities across the world have started introducing the vocational education concepts in their academics. The fact that the vocational education has started to attract more and more people, is inevitable and needs more light to be thrown in order to describe the primary reasons that are driving it to happen. The modernization that the today’s world has seen, would be the basic primary reason to promote such education type. The world is faster now, and hence everybody is need of solution immediately within a fraction of time. Such appetites of the growing population of the world would be solved only through the educational systems, like the vocational education system and training. This is because, the vocational education is been focused on the practical industrial skills, rather than the mere concentration on the academics syllabus.

The online version of the vocational education is attracting more percentage of people, as one can access the vocational training that happen at a distant vocational education institution. The online credit certificates would form a good platform for ample career opportunities and such certificates are considered as significant in many special streams and core subjects. But, it is important to select the best vocational course training institution, especially when one is doing the vocational courses via online. There are specific online universities that have proved to be standard with quality curriculum and success records in the vocational education fields. Hence, one has to do a detailed research, regarding the same and should identify the right institution that would be specific to his/her career specification.

The significance about the vocational courses is that they train the candidates, easily for the entry level jobs, than the other long term academic courses. Hence, as soon as finishing the course, the participants could start earning immediately, provided if the courses are gained through standard vocational institution/university. There are always plenty of opportunities available to enhance one’s skills and this would be more useful, once the person has gained some years of work experience.
