Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana

The department of science and technology, govt of India, offers attractive fellowships (Rs 4000 to Rs 7000 p.m.) and contingency grants (equivalent of four months fellowships per annum) to students studying in XI standard to B.Sc/B.S./Integrated M.Sc and I/II year of B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch/MBBS.

Selection to the program takes into account academic excellence and demonstrated interest in research. Selection is open to Indian national studying in India.

Eligibility

Basic Sciences:

Stream SA: Students enrolled in the XI standard (Science subjects) during the academic year 2010-2011 and have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the X standard board examination

Stream SB+2 (SX): Students enrolled in class 12 (+2) during the academic year 2010-2011 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in basic sciences (B.Sc/B.S./Int M.Sc) for the session 2011-2012 provided they secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the X standard board examination

Stream SB: Students enrolled in 1st year B.Sc/B.S./Int M.Sc during the academic year 2010-2011 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Science subjects in the XII standard board examination

Stream SP (Basic science)*: Students enrolled in XI/XII standard, I/II year (B.Sc/BS/Int M.Sc) in Basic sciences and I/II year BE/B.Tech/B.Arch during the academic year 2010-2011 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in the X/XII standard board examination

Students enrolled in II year B.Sc/BS/Int M.Sc/B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch program must have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in the I year examination. A hard copy of an original and creative science based research project must be submitted along with application (*Engineering students may also apply for the stream SP (Basic sciences)

Medicine

Stream SP (Medicine): Students enrolled in I/II professional year of the MBBS program during the academic year 2010-11 and have secured 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Science subjects in the XII standard board examination.
Students enrolled in the II professional year of the MBBS program must have secured 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in the I year examination.
A hard copy of an original and creative Bio-medical project must be submitted along with the application

KVPY Application Form

A processing fee of Rs.200/-(Rs.100/- for SC/ST) is applicable which can be remitted at any core banking branches of SBI to the credit of Administrative Executive, KVPY A/c No. 10270577392.

Last date for submission of application forms with DD at KVPY, IISc, Bangalore-12 is 10-09-2010.

Request for Application Form:

a. Each Stream has its own application form. Students who wish to apply for more than one Stream should submit separate applications. b. Applicants may apply either by Hard copy or Online. c. Online application forms may be submitted at http://www.kvpy.org.in/. Those who are unable to do so, may request for a Hard Copy.

d. Hard copy of the application form can be obtained from KVPY on request by sending a processing fee*, ** of Rs. 200/- (Rs. 100/- for SC/ST) by means of remitting Rs. 200 (Rs. 100/- for SC/ST) “to any core banking branches of STATE BANK OF INDIA, payable at all branches in India. Paid into the credit of Administrative Executive, KVPY A/c. No. 10270577392” and send the "Pay-In-Slip" along with the request, clearly indicating the stream (i.e. SA, SB, SP etc.) on the envelope. *Girl students are exempted from payment of processing fee.
**Physically challenged candidates are also exempted from payment of the fee and should provide the certificate issued by the competent authority.

e. The SC/ST – candidates should provide a copy of the caste certificate issued by a competent authority in the prescribed proforma.

f. The completed application form along with the: 1. Caste certificate in the case of SC/ST candidate 2. Project report in the case of SP/Basic Sciences/Medicine. 3. copy of the marks statement of the qualifying examination (s), in the case of Stream SP. 4. The original copy of the challan of processing fee of Rs. 200/- (Rs. 100/- for SC/ST)

Should reach KVPY on or before 10.9.2010 (Friday).

g. KVPY will not be responsible for postal delays in receiving completed application.

h. Last date for receipt of the request for application form.
