CBSE Board Exams in Class V

Even as Class X Boards are being scrapped, Delhi Mayor Kanwar Sain is now proposing to hold board exams for Class V.
If implemented, the move will bring about a greater sense of responsibility and accountability among teachers, besides instilling a more serious approach towards studies among students and their parents, said Sain.
“Quality of education imparted at the primary level is not up to mark in most MCD schools. To make the entire system more competent and increase the answerability of teachers, I have suggested that board exams be introduced in MCD primary schools” said Sain. However, after the recent delegation of powers concerning MCD to Delhi government, the proposal will have to be sent for approval.
But we think this rule will not be approved because it violates the Right To Education Act, passed by Parliament recently. It says that no child shall be required to pass any board examination till completion of elementary education.
It violates the Right To Education Act, passed by Parliament recently. Article 30 (1) of the Act says that no child shall be required to pass any board examination till completion of elementary education, a senior HRD Ministry official said.
